The ET1820 is a family of gen- sensing performance. The sen-
eral purpose through-beam sors are easy to adjust with a
sensors in an industrial stan- 270° single turn potentiometer.
dard M18 nickel-plated brass The output is a 4-wire comple-
housing for heavy duty appli- mentary (NO and NC) circuit
cations. They are useful for with NPN (current sinking) or
simple applications where a PNP (current sourcing) open
basic sensor provide adequate collector transistor output.

Installation Hints
To avoid interference from inductive voltage/
current peaks, separate the prox. switch pow-
er cables from any other power cables, e.g.
motor, contactor or solenoid cables
Relief of cable strain
Protection of the sensing face
Switch mounted on mobile carrier
Incorrect
Correct
The cable should not be pulled
Any repetitive flexing of the
cable should be avoided
A proximity switch should not serve as
mechanical stop
