80960MC
Embedded 32-Bit Microprocessor
The 80960MC is the enhanced military member of Intel’s new 32-bit microprocessor family, the i960
processor series, which is designed especially for embedded applications. It is based on the family’s
high performance, common core architecture, and includes a 512-byte instruction cache, a built-in
interrupt controller, an integrated floating-point unit and a memory management unit. The 80960MC
has a large register set, multiple parallel execution units, and a high-bandwidth, burst bus. Using
advanced RISC technology, this high performance processor can respond to interrupts in under
3.4 µs and is capable of execution rates in excess of 9.4 million instructions per second.
