ensure long play times. It can be used on its own, as a single-chip solution, to create a DRM-enabled  
portable Flash player. Or, it can be applied as a coprocessor in a mobile phone to ensure long  
audio playback times, state-of-the-art audio player features, and, with optional SDRAM,  
multimedia features like video.

Hi-Speed USB OTG  
The Nexperia PNX0103 combines ultra-low power  
consumption with excellent audio quality in a small footprint  
to meet the most demanding requirements of today’s  
portable media players. Designed around a powerful  
ARM926EJ-S processor core with 16 kBytes of instruction  
and data cache, it supports digital rights management  
schemes and multimedia features like video playback and  
picture viewing on color displays.

TFBGA208 package (12x12 mm, 0.65-mm pitch)  
It has a dedicated NAND Flash controller that enables  
secure code execution and fast read/write of multimedia  
content using NAND Flash storage. To make cost and  
area more efficient, and to reduce power consumption,  
the PNX0103 has 512 kBytes of internal SRAM.  
Also, to extend the processor’s multimedia capabilities  
to include video, the PNX0103 can be connected to  
optional SDRAM.  
Advanced connectivity  
For fast and efficient data transfer between the media  
player and other USB peripherals or a host PC, the PNX0103  
integrates a Hi-Speed USB On-The-Go (OTG) controller  
and an embedded charge pump. The OTG feature lets  
users connect directly to USB peripherals, such as external  
storage.  
The PNX0103 is also equipped with interfaces to external  
interconnectivity modules, such as IEEE 802.11 b/g and  
Bluetooth, that enable a wide range of interactions between  
devices in the home or in the car.  
DRM support  
For digital rights management, the PNX0103 has several  
built-in security features, including unique identifiers that  
are factory- and user-programmable. The device can also  
download and execute program code in secure mode,  
and has hardware support for random number generation.  
Optimized software stacks  
To speed development, the PNX0103 is available with  
optimized software stacks that enable attractive features  
with competitive performance.
